The Soul is the most important part of God’s Creation. It is the connection between Man and God. It is the access point where there is exchange of communication, strength and power from God. Once the soul is attacked and weakened, the communication with God is short circuited, and it takes the Grace of God to establish this link again to make this seamless communication with God.
How can the Soul be Poor?
Ademola H Adigun shares his in depth knowledge on the dangers of the Poverty of the Soul.
Often times we feel the need to let people know how rich we are. We do it through apparels, cars we drive, pictures of vacations and many sorts. There is a peculiar human nature that wants to announce or pretend success.
In the Christian religion we have made it a focus of our worship. 8 of 10 testimonies are likely to focus on God blessing us. In our mind the blessings of God are mostly expressed through materialism. After all we have Abraham the patriarch as examples. We do sing the songs to claim the blessings.
Those that lead our churches reinforce this belief. We will speak to first fruits, tithes and offerings and crowd out the real essence of religion. That is probably why despite a larger number of places of worship, sin multiplies in proportion to that number.
The worst place to be poor is in the soul. A poor soul is never content or satisfied. It wants more. It is like Hell: insatiable.
A heart of God understands contentment. Poverty is no virtue but it does not base it’s existence on materialism.
The Christian heart sees the world as a preparation for a higher call. It relies on faith not on miracles. It is the heart that is at peace at all times: in plenty and little. It knows a God exist to meet needs. Not greed.
May we find true religion. The one that brings peace and not the sorrows of lack nor the travails of materialism.
