The tongue is a piece of Fire. Pause! Ponder! Before you utter any words to your loved one. Do not let your emotions overwhelm your thinking. Nothing is as painful as being told hurtful, heart breaking words by the one you love. Hurtful words leave wounds that can take forever to heal.
“My dearly loved brothers, understand this: everyone must be quick to hear, slow to speak and slow to anger, for man’s anger does not accomplish God’s righteousness ‘ …James 1:19‘ .
See you can never have a peaceful relationship when you never take time to listen to your partner first, to analyze the effects of your words that flows through your tongue before you speak. The tongue has the power to build your relationship or to simple break it down. Yes you have the right to be angry but do realize that anger is not a passport to enter into someone’s heart and vandalize everything there.
While you still digesting on that, come to think of a situation when your partner is mad at you. No one likes fighting right? Instead of shouting back at him, try to be gentle. A gentle answer turns away wrath but a harsh word stirs up anger, (Proverbs 15:1) .
Turn away that wrath today, as you learn to be calm like a summer sea, to be at peace in the midst of a storm, to be the one who gentle says’ I’m sorry honey, please forgive me ‘.Use your words from your tongue to bring life to your relationship not to be the one who digs your own grave.
Turn the Words from your tongue around
The mouth of the righteous is spring of life, but violence covers the mouth of the wicked, (Proverbs 10:11) . As you read this, make a decision to let your mouth be a spring of life. Let the words that come out your mouth be of encouragement, though thing not be going the way you anticipated, keep being your man /woman’s encourager, provide hope to help your partner cope.
Enough of the useless fights, enough of the tongue fights, enough of the harsh words…He who guards his mouth/tongue guards his soul, one who opens wide his lips comes to ruin.
